Something about the Toro Rosso STR10 works for me. This is another 2015 chassis with "not good" rear packaging. Look at that bulge behind the sidepods! Not going to be a whole lot of turning stability there. The SF-15T has remarkably little narrowing at the rear. I think that the C34 has tighter packaging than that, but the STR10 is the worst yet. It looks kind of like they opted to make one narrower but longer bulge and have channel under that bodywork that narrows significantly more than other cars'. The STR10 (I keep wanting to say SRT-10, like the Dodge) has maybe the most interesting monkey seat. Remings me of a Huayra mirror. Their interesting and artful monkey seat is required because of how they did the middle support, which is almost attached to the wing surface from above. This is less disruptive to the airflow, and all the LMP1s use this approach. Ferrari have sacrificed some wing area to allow for full topside attachment, but Toro Rosso look to have moved the support to the leading edge of the wing plane and extended the structure up to possibly act as a turning vane. Ferrari have stuck with their asymmetric rear wing support and monkey seat that they dabbled with last year. Williams are the only team to try and adapt their 2014 strategy (as much air under the nose as possible) to the new nose regulations. Lotus and Mercedes have also elected to run different nose types (i.e. not snow-plow air diverters like on the McLaren, Ferrari, Sauber and Toro Rosso), but both of those teams can be grouped into a sort of "short cheese wedge" group. In fact, the E23 and the W06's noses are probably the most similar of all the teams so far, opting for as narrow and high a tip as possible, but more linearly met than the Williams'. The Williams seems to be the odd one out so far with its jigsaw puzzle nose. It's very likely that as the tests kick off we'll see different noses and wings being tried on. 2015 looks like it's going to be an interesting season. Expect to see some cars get airborne in accidents because of the low noses. Also expect Red Bull to do much better than last year because of that power Renault claims to have added with their overhauled power unit. A final and interesting note: Renault have hinted at wanting to return to F1 as the main Renault-engined team, much like Mercedes with their power units. This would leave Red Bull without one of their main power pieces, if you will, since they were essentially treated as the works Renault team throughout the V8 and into the V6T-era.
